Birgitta Kenyon - PIANIST
Experienced in the fields of Classical, Cabaret and Musical Theatre, Birgitta is available for concerts, shows, gigs, rehearsals, repetiteur work, exams, festivals and suchlike!
As a Classical Pianist she entertains for all types of Music Circles with a wide repertoire ranging from Scarlatti and Bach through Beethoven, to Rachmaninov and Chopin. Concerto appearances include Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto and
Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.
Birgitta has worked as an accompanist for classical musicians to Conservatoire Standard in exams, competitions and recitals, playing for instrumentalists and singers. Her knowledge of Art Song is particularly extensive, and she has for many years accompanied and coached singers in the repertoire of Faure, Debussy, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Wolf, Armstrong-Gibbs, Head, Warlock, Quilter, Vaughan-Williams and many more.
She plays regularly for rehearsals of operas and stage musicals, coaching singers and MD-ing full productions, both amateur and professional…companies include Suffolk Opera and London-based Pegasus Opera Company.
In “Light Music Entertainment” she works as a solo pianist/ piano-vocalist providing background music at functions, weddings and public bars and eateries, with an extensive repertoire of “cocktail piano”, light jazz and easy classics.
She also works in Cabaret, accompanying singers (and herself) in all styles of performance (Lead Sheet is no problem). A high level of sight-reading has opened employment playing for Open Mic Nights, and depping for swing bands.
